The Crathes Cat
A mystery big cat has been spotted near Torphins, at Milton of Crathes. Seen just at Noon
on a weeekend, Saturday 1st Aug 2009, the lucky sighting was by the Shearer familiy
visiting from Orkney.
They described as large and ginger coloured, but definitely not a fox.
Mr Shearer described the animal as about 1 mtr long, while his grandson added that it
had a cats tail and face.
Daughter Carol described how it was at the roadside, with arched back as though ready to
pounce.
Sightings are not all that unusual in the area, as members of staff at Crathes Castle
have been seen similar creatures over the years, with a large cat being struck by a car
in the 1990's.
Compounding these events is the case a few weeks earlier of of a suspected Puma attack
on a horse in Ayrshire, where the horse was left badly injured with Claw marks. And a
recent filming a month earlier of what is thought to be a big cat in Helesburgh
