Mysterious Sightings around Torphins : 1993 - 1994
Stories of Bigfoot, Abominable Snowmen, have appeared over the ages. Torphins appears to be no different. These strange and repeated tales below, similar but not always identical, and in living memory, may be a simple urban or Internet Myth, an indication of unknown species in our midst, or further testimony to the power and effect of barley, oats and water in the correct mix
I would be very interested of those parties involved, or those with knowledge of these occurrences should contact the website to verify the facts. So far my investigations to identify “Pete and George” or the Lady in the cottage or the missing Scotsman, the Englishman, the Irishman and the parrot, as well as the pub they walked into, have been unsuccesful.

Report 1 : Torphins, Aberdeenshire (Source ; Mark Fraser / Scottish Man Beast)
Strong and muscular, red glowing eyes, body covered in jet black hair. About 6 ft 6 inches tall, and not the sort of encounter you enjoy in the middle of a wood.
But precisely what two men, out walking, witnessed late one afternoon in 1994.
Darting in and out of the trees the creature was eventually frightened off when one of the men throw a large stone at it.

A few weeks later the tow friends along with a third, saw the same hairy figure, this time catching a glimpse of it in the rear view mirror, while driving along a stretch of road close to where the first sighting was made.
The same, or similar creature has also been reported by a lady who lives in a cottage on the edge of the wood. She has seen it on two occasions, watching from her house, she too describes the same black coat and glowing eyes.

Also from the files of Mark Fraser comes the July 1994 encounter of Pete and George, who were walking through a forestry track in woods near their home of Torphins 20 miles from the Scottish city of Aberdeen. When nearing the end of the track, Pete saw a dark figure
run from the trees on the left, head across the track, and disappear into the trees on the right.
A few weeks later the two friends, along with a third, were driving along the road into Torphins when: “Suddenly from the side of the road there came this great, muscular, hairy figure bounding out, which started to run behind the car. At one point it caught up and ran alongside the vehicle, not seemingly out of breath as it approached speeds of up to 35 to 40 miles per hour.” The creature would be described as strong and muscular, with a hair-covered body and possessed of a pair of “red, glowing eyes.”

Location. Torphins Scotland.
Date: 1993, Time: afternoon
Three young men were walking along a wide track through a forestry plantation when one of
the youths saw a dark human shaped figure run across the track, from the left to right,
two hundred yards ahead of them. He felt an immediate sense of terror and foreboding, but
his friends saw nothing. They were teasing him and accusing him of having made up the
incident, when all three saw a face that they described as human but not human, peering
out at them between the branches of the fir trees. One of them threw a stone at it and the
creature disappeared.
Location. Near Torphins, Scotland.
Date: 1993 Time: morning.
The three young men involved in the previous encounter were driving into town, about two
miles away from the site of the first experience, when a large, dark and hairy figure
appeared at the side of the road. It began to run up the road behind them and was soon
level with the car. What was strange about this was that although the figure was running
at a speed sometimes approaching 45 mph, it did not appear to be fatigued. At one point
the creature stared into the car at the three youths, with an inquisitive expression, but
after about 5 minutes it stopped, abruptly in the middle of the road. They soon lost sight
of the creature. A woman living in a secluded cottage in the same area had twice seen a
dark, hairy figure standing in the forest watching her cottage, before disappearing into
the undergrowth.
