Craigmyle House : courtesy Bruce Gordon.
Graigmyle House An estate and former mansion in Aberdeenshire, Craigmyle House lay just east of Torphins and 6 miles northwest of Banchory. Built in 1676 by a branch of the Burnett family, it was extended and modernised by Sir Robert Lorimer in 1902 for R. P. Robertson of Glasgow and later the property of Thomas Shaw, Lord Craigmyle (1850 - 1939). However, Sadly, at a time of the introduction of taxation on large empty property, it was demolished in 1960.
If you have old photographs or tales from Torphins past, and would be prepared to share on the site, please contact me here with the information.
